Ted Harris is a photographer and self taught artist whose work is inspired by the beauty he finds in nature. From the Rocky Mountains to the wilds of Northern Ontario, his photographs and paintings celebrate the beauty he finds in wild places.
Ted was always creative. He studied guitar from an early age and went on to play with many successful Toronto and area bands in a career that spanned almost 40 years.
After completing the Creative Photography program at Toronto’s Humber College in 1974 Ted went on to have a successful career as a wedding & commercial photographer.
Ted’s father was a successful artist and Ted was fascinated with watching him paint. It was this influence that led him to explore oil painting when he found that photography no longer satisfied his desire to create.
“It wasn’t until later in my thirties that I tuned in to watch a TV show with William Alexander that my interest was really peaked. He made me think “I can do that”.
Although my dad provided invaluable advice and instruction on how to paint, I soon developed my own style
Ted loves being outdoors so his work reflects this. Ted paints still life and portraits although mostly he paints landscapes.
Ted Harris lives in Amherstburg, Ontario with his wife Diane.
